Information you give us
The contact form asks for your name, email address, subject and message. The trip enquiry form also asks about travel timing, nights, party size, budget, interests and notes. Include only what is needed for the enquiry; do not send payment-card details or passport copies through these forms. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and anything you include in the message.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the website, our hosting provider and the analytics and advertising services listed below receive technical information sent by your browser. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, approximate location derived from your IP address, the pages you view, the referring website, and the date and time of your visit.
Analytics, Advertising and Cookies
We use the following third-party services. Each one sets cookies or uses similar browser storage and processes data under its own privacy policy.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC, to measure page views and enquiry interactions (such as clicks on enquiry links and whether an enquiry form was sent). We send Google the page address without its query string and the referring website without its path; we do not send form contents or email addresses. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (for example _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish visits.

PostHog
We use PostHog, provided by PostHog, Inc., to understand how visitors use the website. PostHog receives the full page address (including campaign parameters such as utm_source and utm_medium, and the share_id added to links shared from our homepage), page views, clicks and other interactions with the page, and technical information about your browser and device. When you share our homepage, we record that a share link was created and how it was shared (for example, copied, sent through WhatsApp or your device's share sheet). The share link carries the random PostHog identifier stored in your browser as its share_id, so we can count visits that came from your share; anyone you send the link to can see that identifier in the address, but it does not reveal your name or contact details. We do not see who you send it to. PostHog may also record sessions to help us fix usability problems; text typed into form fields is masked in those recordings. PostHog data is sent through our own subdomain, elf.iceland.org, and processed on PostHog's servers in the United States. PostHog stores an identifier in a first-party cookie and local storage (named ph_*_posthog). We do not create PostHog profiles that identify you by name or email address.

Google AdSense
Some pages show advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Our homepage does not load AdSense.
You can turn off personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center, and learn more about how Google uses advertising cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Partner links and widgets
Some pages link to, or embed search widgets from, third-party tour, travel and car-rental sellers. When you click through or use an embedded widget, the seller or affiliate network may set its own cookies to attribute a booking to us, which can earn us a commission. Other services
The website is hosted by Vercel, Inc., which processes request logs (including IP addresses) to deliver and secure the site. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts are requested.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use a private browsing window, or use a content blocker to stop analytics and advertising scripts from loading. The website's guides remain readable if you do. You can also use the opt-out links above.
