## What the FÍ huts provide

Ferðafélag Íslands lists two huts with 54 sleeping places in total, at about 830 meters elevation. Sleeping spaces are shared; kitchens are in the huts, while toilets and showers are in a separate service building. These are mountain huts, so read the operator’s equipment and booking instructions before choosing them for an overnight stay.

## An average season is not an opening announcement

FÍ says summer vehicle access is by 4×4 on F26. The opening depends on road conditions, with an average operating window from early July to early September. Confirm both the [road status](<https://umferdin.is/en>) and your reservation for the actual date; a hut listing does not mean the road is open today.

## Winter access needs direct arrangements

FÍ says the huts are locked in winter and winter stays require a direct inquiry. This is not a drive-up winter accommodation offer. Contact FÍ about the intended journey and access before making a plan. For a summer walk, obtain the current local route advice rather than setting off toward the surrounding highlands from a general map pin.
