It warns against walking on lava. Use the current route notice rather than this page’s former generic “moderate three-to-four-hour loop.” Ask the tour operator to name the path, the planned walking distance and the alternative if it closes. Its FAQ contains differing walking-distance descriptions, so confirm the route and physical requirements directly rather than relying on one figure here. It also describes a separately arranged helicopter option. That is not included simply because the main tour uses a lift. Ask about the full transfer and access requirements for your group. ## An indoor option has different logistics [Lava Show]() demonstrates molten lava indoors and lists Reykjavík at Fiskislóð 73 and Vík at Víkurbraut 5. Match the ticket to your overnight location and check the actual show’s age and seating requirements. Choose this if you want the demonstration without an outdoor hike.
