Lambatungujökull Glacier: Size, Ice Caves, Cap and Volcanoes

Lambatungujokull or Lambatungujökull is a type of outlet glacier of Vatnajökull National Park, the largest ice cap situated in Europe. The location of Lambatungujökull is on the southeastern margin of Vatnajökull. Lambatungujökull Glacier covers the area in East Iceland. The glacier has an estimated elevation of 3,202.10 ft and GPS coordinates of 64°31’60” N and 15°25’0” W. 

 

An alternative name for the Lambatungujökull glacier is Þórðarjökull or Lambatungnajökull. The glacier’s name was a mistaken name that was supposed to be named from the Lambatungur common. It is near the north of Gunnsteinsfell and east of Goðaborg. It is close to the glaciers of Austurtungnajökull, Norðurtungnajökull, Öxarfellsjökull, Hoffellsjökull, Svínafellsjökull.
