## Getting There

From Reykjavík, drive north on Route 1. Instead of taking the Hvalfjörður tunnel, exit toward the fjord road (Route 47) and follow the shore road along the inner fjord. Hvammsvík is located on the southern shore of Hvalfjörður, approximately 55 km from Reykjavík (45 minutes). The road is paved and well-maintained year-round; no 4WD required. Free on-site parking is available. The nearest settlement is Akranes (30 km). Advance booking is required as capacity is limited.

## Best Time to Visit

Year-round. June through August: long daylight leaves time for a hike before bathing, plus midnight sun views over the fjord. September through October: fewer visitors and autumn colors in the surrounding mountains. November through February: northern lights potential while soaking, with snow on the fjord slopes. March through May: returning light. Time your visit around high tide if you want the ocean mixing; check the Hvammsvík website for tide tables.
