## Quick Answer

GeoSea fills cliff-edge infinity pools above Húsavík harbor with geothermally heated seawater at 38-40°C, overlooking the whale waters of Skjálfandi Bay.

GeoSea is a set of geothermal sea baths on the cliffs of Húsavík, North Iceland. Unlike most Icelandic pools, which use freshwater, GeoSea fills its infinity pools with geothermally heated seawater, rich in minerals. The pools look out over Skjálfandi Bay, one of Europe\\'s best whale-watching areas.

Book ahead in summer. A whale watching tour from the harbor pairs well with a soak.

## What to Expect

### Heated Seawater at 38-40°C

Iceland's only geothermal sea baths: mineral-rich ocean water naturally heated to 38-40°C with high sodium and chloride content that is gentle on skin

### Cliff-Edge Infinity Pools

Two infinity pools perched on the cliff edge with unobstructed views over Skjálfandi Bay and the Arctic horizon

### Whale Watching From the Pool

In summer (June-August), humpback and minke whales are regularly spotted from the pools. Binoculars provided at the facility

### In-Pool Bar & Refreshments

A bar serves drinks and light refreshments at the water's edge. Towels are included with admission

### Changing Facilities & Showers

Modern changing rooms with hot showers, hair dryers, and lockers. Bring your own swimsuit or rent one on site

### Mountain & Arctic Panorama

Snow-capped Kinnarfjöll mountains across the bay frame the northern horizon, with possible northern lights October through March

## Getting There

GeoSea is perched on the Húsavíkurhöfði headland above Húsavík harbor. From Akureyri, drive 92 km east along Route 85 (approximately 1 hour). From Húsavík town center, follow signs uphill to the baths (2 km, 3 minutes by car). Free on-site parking is available. The facility is 480 km from Reykjavík via Route 1, or accessible by domestic flight to Húsavík airport (seasonal). The road is paved and well-maintained year-round; no 4WD needed.

## Best Time to Visit

Year-round. June through August: peak whale-watching season with humpback and minke whales visible from the pools, plus midnight sun soaking until near midnight. September through October: whale season winds down but northern lights begin, with fewer visitors. November through February: good northern lights viewing from the warm pools against a dark Arctic sky. March through May: returning daylight with quieter conditions before summer crowds arrive. A Húsavík whale-watching boat tour on the same day gets you much closer to the whales.
