## Choose a walk from the park entrance

The regional tourism authority lists a [5.2 km walk with 70 metres of elevation gain](<https://www.west.is/en/place/einkunnir-hiking-trail>). It starts at the forestry parking area, reached from Route 1 via the road identified as 536/3. Information boards there introduce the wildlife and walking routes.

The route combines grass, loose material and small stones, with steps in places. Some paths accommodate wheelchairs and pushchairs, but many are narrow or sloping. Choose a suitable section at the entrance; the whole route should not be treated as step-free. There is no trail lighting.

## Wetlands, rock outcrops and a longer connection

The three groups of rocks rising above the marshland give the park its shape. A viewing platform at Syðri-Einkunnir looks across Mýrar and Borgarfjörður. Álatjörn pond and the woodland offer lower-level walking, while the slopes provide a more demanding option.

A connecting path leads toward Borg á Mýrum. Treat that as a separate route choice, rather than assuming every trail returns to the same parking area. Check the route boards before setting off.

## Keep the wetland edges intact

Follow marked paths, leave wildlife undisturbed and take litter away. Fires in vegetated areas and driving off-road are prohibited by the published visitor guidance. The park’s protected status covers its wetlands and geological formations as well as its recreational use.

Winter ice and snow can change the suitability of individual paths. Allow daylight for your return and use the conditions on site to choose between a lowland walk and the slopes.
