However, there are a handful of other activities one can do around the waterfall’s area. For example, the Laki crater is a volcanic fissure in a mountain that creates Iceland’s largest ice field.

Another nearby feature is Vatnajokull National Park. The national park is only an hour and 20 minutes drive away from the national park.

Vatnajokull National Park is the closest park to the falls. However, it is still a little more than an hour away from the park. So you can go back to the Ring Road and take it eastwards until you get to the turn-off for the park.
