The loop at a glance

Roughly 230–300 km from Reykjavík and back, all on paved roads (Routes 36 → 365 → 37 → 35 → 1). About 3.5 hours of driving without stops; plan 6–8 hours with the three main sites, or a full day with detours. No 4WD needed. Driving clockwise (Gullfoss first) helps you run opposite the tour buses.
