## Three collections, one museum stop

[Safnahusid at Egilsbraut 2](<https://www.fjardabyggd.is/menning/sofn/safnahusid-a-nordfirdi>) brings together three different ways of looking at Nordfjordur. The natural history collection contains birds, fish, shells and minerals. Josafat Hinriksson’s collection includes fishing and boatbuilding equipment and a reconstruction of the forge where he learned his trade. Tryggvi Olafsson’s art museum occupies the ground floor. These are collections in one museum house, so you do not need to plan three separate journeys.

The museum house lists daily hours of 13:00–17:00 from June 1 through August 31. September–May visits are by arrangement at [sofn@fjardabyggd.is](<mailto:sofn@fjardabyggd.is>) or +354 470 9063. Its May 2026 tariff lists standard adult admission at 2,330 ISK and free admission for ages 0–17; the adult ticket is non-transferable and valid for one year across the municipal museums. Check any special-opening charge separately before arranging an off-season visit.

The [7.9-kilometer Nordfjardargong](<https://www.vegagerdin.is/samgongukerfid/vegakerfid/jardgong>) is the current tunnel connection with Eskifjordur. Do not add a 17-kilometer tunnel to your route based on older guide copy: that figure and the Oddsskard name do not describe this crossing.
