Iceland - Another Take
Ambassador and Mrs. Albert Jónsson attended a photographic art exhibit hosted by the Villanova University Art Gallery on February 23, 2007. Mr. John Welsh’s exhibit, entitled “Iceland-Another Take,” is the result of his travels to Iceland since 2001. Mr. Welsh’s travels to Iceland have produced 8,000 landscape photographs, 34 of which are on exhibit. “Eight thousand sounds like a huge number and it is, but it’s what was needed to relate what I experienced in Iceland’s empty spaces,” Welsh recalled. “The images I have seen are fantastic cascading waterfalls, lush meadows and endless horizons all taken under perfect light. But I felt they told only part of Iceland’s story.” Therefore, Mr. Welsh constantly looked for another perspective, or different methods of viewing the landscape, and in so doing Mr. Welsh has transcended all conventional rules of landscape photography and produced a unique and fresh look at experiencing the multifaceted landscape of Iceland.
The exhibit runs from February 23 to April 12, 2007. For exhibit hours, telephone the Villanova University Art Gallery at 610-519-4612 or visit their website: http://www.artgallery.villanova.edu/
