Icelandic film nominated for Oscar
The Last Farm (Síðasti Bærinn), a short film directed by the Icelandic filmmaker Rúnar Rúnarsson, has been nominated for the Oscar awards as the best live action short film. The Last Farm, which is produced by Skúli Málmquist and Þórir Snær Sigurjónsson of ZikZak Filmworks, has travelled to many festivals in the past year and received various prizes and awards. The film tells the story of an old farmer, played by Jón Sigurbjörnsson, who lives with his wife in a remote valley where all the farms except one has been abandoned. Runar Runarsson is currently studying at The Danish Filmschool in Copenhagen. The film was filmed in Dýrafjördur in North Western Iceland.
