National Day in D.C.
The Icelandic Association of Washington D.C. held its annual National Day celebration at the residence of Ambassador Helgi Ágústsson and his wife Hervör Jónsdóttir on Kalorama Road last Saturday.
The festivities were well attended this year, especially by families. The Association’s members served up various Icelandic delicacies such as flatbread with smoked lamb and traditional Icelandic pancakes.
The Icelandic community in Washington is very active and is currently planning an Icelandic get-together and a happy hour at restaurant Saint-Ex (corner of 14th street and T) between 5 and 8 on August 5th. Icelandic Viking beer will be served and the DJ will play Icelandic music.
