Exhibit Opens April 14 at the Lab Gallery, Roger Smith Hotel
"Journey – Observing the Human Condition," a new exhibit by acclaimed Icelandic artist Steinunn Thorarinsdottir, will open April 14 at the Lab Gallery, part of the Roger Smith Hotel, 501 Lexington Ave. The works, made of aluminum, cast iron and glass, are a collection of life size free-standing figures as well as wall reliefs.
Artist Steinunn Thorarinsdottir began her career as a professional artist shortly after graduating from the Accademia di Bella Arti in Bologna, Italy, having received her degree in Fine Arts from Portsmouth Polytechnic. She also attended Portsmouth College of Art & Design in Portsmouth, England.
"My work is figurative and has throughout my career fundamentally been about the way we travel through life and relate to our environment and nature," said Thorarinsdottir.
The Roger Smith Lab Gallery is a project-based exhibition space located in one of the liveliest business sections of New York City. Sponsored by the Roger Smith Hotel, the Lab Gallery is a high traffic, fast paced converted "storefront" that features original work and provides a venue for experimental national and international artists and curators.
