Steinunn Thorarinsdottir
Sculpture in the Window Gallery and outdoor sites on campus
Exhibition dates: May 1 – June 3, 2007
Reception: May 3, 7-9 PM
Icelandic sculptor Steinunn Thorarinsdottir was born in Reykjavik in 1955 and studied sculpture in England and Italy. She has been working professionally for over 20 years, and has exhibited widely in Europe, Japan, Australia, and the United States. Her works are in private, public, and corporate collections throughout the world.
Steinunn’s sculpture has always been figurative; through figuration she has explored the complexity of the human condition. The artist is also inspired by “the color, atmosphere, and content” of her native Iceland. She works in a variety of media – glass, iron, aluminum – and her figures exude “solitude and pathos but also strength and dignity,” according to Peter Osborne, Director of the Osborne Samuel Gallery, London.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to public. No reservations are required. Ample, free parking is available on the Concordia College campus.
The OSilas Gallery is located in the Donald A. Krenz Academic Center on the second level of Scheele Memorial Library on Concordia College’s Bronxville campus.
