Financial Crisis or Economic Opportunity: The Real Story About Iceland
Wednesday, May 3rd 12:00 - 2:00 PM Scandinavian House - Volvo Hall
A PRESENTATION ON THE STATE OF THE ICELANDIC ECONOMY BY PROFESSOR FREDERIK MISHKIN OF COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY. FOLLOWING PROFESSOR MISHKIN´S PRESENTATION, H.E. GEIR H. HAARDE, ICELAND'S MINISTER for FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND FORMER MINISTER OF FINANCE, WILL PROVIDE COMMENTARY ON KEY FINDINGS.
Reports of turmoil in the Icelandic economy have in recent weeks caught the attention of financial analysts and the media on both sides of the Atlantic. Many articles have been published on the subject, and the Icelandic situation has stirred a level of media interest that seems surprising for a nation of 300,000 people.
In light of this recent debate, the Iceland Chamber of Commerce asked Professor Frederik Mishkin a leading world authority on financial stability to study the Icelandic scenario with the assistance of Professor Tryggvi Thor Herbertsson and share with us his findings. His analysis and input should lend weight to the discussion about Iceland´s situation and its future outlook.
