Re-Granting of Icelandic Citizenship
The Ministry of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs draws attention to the fact that the deadline for applying for the re-granting of Icelandic citizenship under the Interim Provision of the Icelandic Citizenship Act, No. 100/1952 (cf. the Act No. 9/2003) is 1 July 2007.
Under this provision, persons who acquired the citizenship of another state before 1 July 2003, and lost their Icelandic citizenship in consequence without this being demanded by the state concerned, may apply to the Ministry of Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs to be granted Icelandic citizenship anew. Applicants shall be domiciled in Iceland or shall meet the residence requirements stated in Article 8 of the Act.
