Icelandic-Italian Business Day to be held in Milan on the 26th of May, 2008
The Embassy of Iceland in Rome and the Icelandic/Italian Chamber of Commerce are planning an Icelandic business and investment event in Milan on the 26th of May 2008, in cooperation with various institutions and other actors, including the Chamber of Commerce of Milan. The date was chose in relation to the first direct flight of Icelandair from Keflavik to Milan this year.
It is proposed to promote investment opportunities in Iceland and take a closer look at how investment between the two countries can be increased. The event will especially be of use for companies interested in pursuing business opportunities. A special emphasis is to be placed on banking, financing, and the use of energy in Iceland. The tourist industry will also play a role in the event and a platform for the promotion Icelandic culture will be provided.
Milan and Northern Italy are one of the most highly industrially and business developed areas in Europe. Recently it was awarded the World Expo to be held in 2015. Several Icelandic companies have already set up satellite branches in the area and have even invested in production facilities. There one can also find Italian companies that have invested in Iceland.
The Embassy of Iceland in Rome will oversee coordination and planning of the event, in cooperation with the Consul General in Milan, the board members of IICC in Iceland and Italy, Invest in Iceland Agency, the Icelandic Trace Council, the MFA Overseas Business Services, the Icelandic Tourist Board, Island Tours and Icelandair. Jónas Haraldsson will oversee coordination on behalf of the Embassy.
