Iceland to provide weapons transport to Iraq
In an interview from Brussels yesterday, Foreign Minister David Oddsson, attending an informal meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, told the Icelandic daily Morgunbladid that Iceland will provide air transport of weapons from Slovenia to Iraq. In total four trips will be made and the weapons are surplus equipment intended for the new Iraqi police and security forces. In the same interview, Foreign Minister Oddsson, told that in addition, Iceland will provide funding of 150.000 euros to NATO for the training of same Iraqi forces.
