Icelanders to participate in the Carnegie Art Award
Out of a total of 148 nominated artists, the jury for the Carnegie Art Award 2010 has chosen 23 Nordic artists for this year's exhibition - and for the first time since its start in 1998, women dominate. Of the 23 there are two Icelanders, Kristján Guðmundsson and Egill Snæbjörnsson.
Policy rate lowered
The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has decided to lower the Central Bank of Iceland's policy rate by 150 basis points to 15.5 percent. Other interest rates of the Bank will be lowered accordingly.

Dark Music Days
The 19th edition of Iceland’s premier classical music event, Dark Music Days is to take place between the 6th and 13th of February. The event, which has been running since 1980, celebrates the darkest days of the Icelandic year with new music as well as music workshops in and around the Reykjavik area.>>>
New Icelandic Government formed
Government of the Social Democratic Alliance and the Left-Green Movement took office on February 1, 2009. The economic policy of the Government will be based on the programme already established by the authorities and the International Monetary Fund, IMF. The two parties agree on the importance of holding early elections, set for 25 April 2009.
