Visa for Business visit / Short term
Common Information Sheet Business Visa for Schengen Countries
A visa issued by a Schengen country permits free travel within the Schengen area, if not stated otherwise on the visa. The Schengen countries include: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. The maximum duration of stay is 90 days.
Competent Embassy or Consulate-General
The Embassy or Consulate-General of the country of the main destination is the competent authority to deal with the application. If the main destination cannot be determined, the application should be made to the embassy of the country in which the longest visit shall be. If the visits in different Schengen countries are of equal length, the first destination shall be the determining factor.
Visa application
Applicants with official passports (diplomatic passports, service passports, passports "for public affairs") apply for their visas via the competent department for Foreign Affairs of the Chinese Ministry or Commission. Holders of ordinary passports are in principle required to apply in person.
Required Documentation:
1. 1 application form duly completed and 2 up-to-datephotos with white background.
Exceptions:
Spain: 4 application forms.
Belgium, Germany, Sweden: 2 application forms.
2. Passport, valid until at least 90 days after expiration of the visa plus 1 copy of the identification pages.
3. Original introduction letter (translated either into English or into the language of the country that receives the application) of the Chinese company (stating address, telephone/fax-numbers, position and salary of the visa applicant, subject of the intended business activity) including signature and seal of the company.
4. A copy of the business license of the Chinese company including translation into English or the language of the country that receives the application.
5. Original invitation from the business partner in the Schengen region in English or the language of the country that receives the application, as well as a copy of it, containing
a) letterhead, address, telephone/fax-numbers, email-address and website (if applicable),
b) intended duration of stay,
c) purpose of stay containing an itinerary.
Please note: Denmark and Greece require that the invitation letter is faxed or e-mailed as a scanned document with signature, directly to the relevant consular office.
6. Confirmation of the coverage of the costs (in invitation or in guarantee letter). Regarding the required format of the guarantee letter, please contact the relevant consular office or consult its website.
7. For foreign applicants: resident permit (if applicable) plus 1 copy.
8. Proof of health insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euro, covering the journey into Schengen territory, original +1 copy.
9. Fees: 625 RMB, to be paid in local currency according to the official exchange rate of the relevant Embassy. Please note that no additional fees will be required. The hand-out of application forms and all other information material as well as the arrangement of an appointment are free of charge.
Additional remarks:
a) The above mentioned requirements are not an exhaustive list. The relevant Schengen consular office maintains the right to ask for further documents if necessary.
