Iceland paintings showcased in Ottawa

The show features Olafur Thor Olafsson,a renowned artist from Iceland and Darleen Davis of Ottawa, a Canadian artist of Icelandic descent.

Olafsson is a painter of the rural Icelandic reality. His paintings depict with honesty and passion his love of his native Iceland. Olafsson has been called the father of modern Icelandic landscape and nature painting. Aurora_BorealisOne of the first Icelandic artists to concentrate exclusively on the depiction of rural scenes, he has devoted his life to painting a small portion of the Icelandic countryside.

Darleen Davis has resided in Canada, the United States and South America. She has travelled extensively in Europe, Africa, Central and South America, and has painted and taught in local and international communities. She has had works exhibited and sold though numerous art galleries throughout Canada and the world. Her artistic career began in Winnipeg and she now resides in Ottawa. In addition to her painting, she has written and illustrated many children's stories. Her accomplishments as an Icelandic Canadian artist span many years and many countries.
