Delightful 17th of June picnic in Ontario
Lou Howard, Past President, Friends of Iceland, writes:
On Sunday, June 17, 2007, Janet Strome and David Mattinson hosted this picnic at their Hidden Meadow Farm, at 3407 Stonecrest Road, RR#2, Woodlawn, Ontario. The temperature was a beautiful 29 degrees, and the sun was shining in a bright blue sky.
Sixty one guests enjoyed the casual farm atmosphere watching, petting and riding on 6 beautiful Icelandic horses which Janet and David raise and show. They also board other horses for friends and neighbours.
Ambassador Markús Örn Antonsson and his wife, Steinunn Ármannsdóttir joined in the festivities. The youngest member of the Friends of Iceland, who was 17 days old, was present with her mother Daja Kjartansdóttir and her father Völundur Thorbjörnsson. Kristjana Inga Völundardóttir has been enrolled in the club membership list. 
The highlight of the day was the sharing of many delicious Icelandic foods, and the sharing of brennivín which was used to toast Iceland’s Independence Day.
It was another successful social activity put on by our active club.
