Iceland well represented at Edmonton show
A number of Icelandic companies presented their products at the Global Connections trade show which took place in the Northlands Exhibition Center in Edmonton, Alberta, at the end of July/early August. The Icelandic participation was organized by Walter Sopher, past President of the Icelandic National League of North America and manager of the company Snorri Goods, which specializes in imports to Canada of manufactured goods from Iceland. Some 600.000 visitors came to the show.
Last May in Reykjavík, Walter Sopher and Ambassador Markús Örn Antonsson met with representatives from several Icelandic companies to assist them in joining together for the Edmonton show. Gordon Reykdal, Consul of Iceland in Edmonton and President of the Icelandic Canadian Chamber of Commerce, was also acitvely engaged in the preparations. The Icelandic companies that had their products on show and for sale in their booths at the Global Connections were the following: Floss, Drífa, Ice Wear, Nor Wear, Vík, Handknitting, M Design, Sólarfilma, Stella Design, Glófi, Snerruútgáfan, Ásbjörn Ólafsson and 24K Water Co.
