Interest in trade between Iceland and Newfoundland and Labrador has been steadily mounting in recent years and the two jurisdictions have now formalized this interest with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Glaciologist and writer Dr. Jack D. Ives was honoured at a special ceremony in the Embassy residence in Ottawa on 17 January 2008 to mark the publication of his new book about the Skaftafell National Park in Iceland. On the same occasion, Dr. Ives was congratulated on the recent presentation of the Order of the Falcon to him by the President of Iceland.
