Meeting of EU and EFTA Finance Ministers in Brussels
The Finance Ministers of the EU and the EFTA states discussed energy issues at their meeting today in Brussels. Mr. Bjorn Bjarnason, Minister of Justice attended the meeting on behalf of Iceland.
In his speech the Minister described the utilisation of energy in Iceland and especially the increased use of geothermal energy. The Ministers of Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein were also heard as well as the Ministers from Finland, UK and Denmark.
Mr. Gordon Brown, the UK Minister of Finance encouraged the EFTA States to join the EU Member States in creating a common European market to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide
