CTBTO Undirritun aðstöðusamnings - A Facility Agreement
Þann 13. október sl. var skrifað undir aðstöðusamning milli íslenskra stjórnvalda og undirbúningsnefndar samnings um allsherjarbann við tilraunum með kjarnavopn (Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, CTBTO) um tvær eftirlitsstöðvar stofnunarinnar sem staðsettar eru á Íslandi. Sveinn Björnsson, fastafulltrúi Íslands hjá CTBTO og sendiherra Íslands í Vín, skrifaði undir samninginn fyrir hönd Íslands en Tibor Tóth, framkvæmdastjóri CTBTO fyrir hönd undirbúningsnefndarinnar sem staðsett er í Vín í Austurríki.

A Facility Agreement between Iceland and the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) was signed today by Ambassador Sveinn Björnsson and Mr. Tibor Tóth, Executive Secretary, on behalf of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission.
The agreement will regulate the conduct of activities in respect of auxiliary seismic station AS38 in Borgarnes and radionuclide station RN 34 in Reykjavik. It grants the Commission the necessary legal authority to carry out work on these International Monitoring System (IMS) facilities on Iceland's territory. The Commission has now signed 33 Facility Agreements with States hosting IMS facilities.
Iceland signed the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty on 24 September 1996 and ratified it on 26 June 2000.
