16.11.2006 : Voting rights of Icelandic citizens registered as living abroad for 8 years or longer.

All Icelandic citizens who have been registered as living abroad for more than 8 years will be automatically deleted from all voters’ lists as of 1st of December 2006 according to national laws. Those citizens who wish to vote in the parliamentary elections 2007 will therefore need to apply to be reinstated on the voter’s list by 1st of December 2006 in order to preserve their voting rights. >>>

Former Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mrs.Valgerður Sverrisdóttir, took office on the 15th of June as Minister for Foreign Affairs. Former Foreign Minister Mr. Geir H. Haarde, took office  same day as Prime Minister.
